Releasing Equity in Belfast.

Belfast1  is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, and is located on Belfast Lough. It has a population of over 300,000 people who are mainly Protestant with Catholic minorities. The name Belfast comes from an anglicisation of the Irish “Baile” which means settlement or home town.

Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland. It sits on Belfast Lough, an inlet of the Irish Sea that separates it from Ireland. It has a population of over 300,000 people who are mainly Protestant with Catholic minorities. Belfast’s name comes from an anglicisation of the Irish “Baile”, which means settlement or home town. Belfast was a small settlement with only one main street and some scattered houses in its early days. It expanded rapidly after 1795 when George Walker built linen bleacheries on what is now Donegall Road. He erected many more buildings, including homes for his workers (Walker Row) and shops and other businesses to keep them close by or nearby. By 1841, there were so many people living just off this area that it began to be called “Belfast’s Village.”

As the industry grew throughout the 19th century, so did Belfast’s importance around Europe as an industrial powerhouse, leading to an increase in immigration from all over Britain and Ireland who came to seek employment. In the 20th century, Belfast became one of the world’s largest shipbuilding communities. It remained that way until after World War II, when the labour-intensive heavy industry declined in Northern Ireland.

There are plenty of attractions in Belfast that you should make sure to see when you visit it for the first time. This includes some of its landmarks, such as Belfast City Hall, built-in 1906 and reflected the Victorian architecture, or St Anne’s Cathedral, which was completed in 1874 and showcased gothic style architecture.
